Geordie Bangers

If you'd asked 10 year old Chloe what her favourite meal was without hesitation she would have replied "sausage, beans and chips".

Fast forward 23 years (I wish I hadn't typed that now because I suddenly feel rather old) and I'm still partial to a fat and juicy banger.

Geordie Bangers are sausages lovingly hand crafted in the North East using recipes that have been passed down three generations, true to their roots the sausages all feature a "Geordie twist".

We've been meaning to try a Geordie Banger for ages after strolling past their stall at the Quayside Market on many a Sunday afternoon.  I'm rather annoyed at myself that it's taken this long for us to finally make a purchase!

We finally bought some a few weeks back, and opted for the 3 packets for £10 deal.   The flavours on offer are amazing, and the guys behind the stall were very friendly and gave us lots of advice, which in all honesty only made our decision harder - we are an indecisive pair!

In the end we opted for the Big River Breakfast Pork Sausage, Hog Roast Pork (sage and onion with apple)  and Geordie Banger (pork with leek, mushroom and onion).

Now for the first time ever on New Girl in Toon get ready to marvel at some photographs of my cooking talents.

OK, OK .... I know I'm never going to make Masterchef but I am really proud of that Toad in the Hole.  I announced to Simon that I was going to cook dinner over Easter Weekend and that was my effort.  I'm pretty impressed that I managed to make it, although I will admit there was quite a bit of swearing coming from the kitchen when I kept getting it wrong.

Despite my lack of cooking skills the sausages all tasted amazing and from now on we will be keeping it local and stocking up on Geordie Bangers.   We need to try the flavours that we had to leave behind and I'm really intrigued by a recent addition to the collection the "Mojito" sausage.

You can find the Geordie Banger Company at local markets at Hexham, Morpeth, Tynemouth and the Newcastle Quayside as well as at various local events throughout the year.    It's also worth giving them a follow on Twitter as they have been known to generously give away packs of sausages.

    1. Everyone at work thinks I'm quite funny, I've been living here a year and I'm off all over the place exploring places and trying things that no one else has ever heard of, people tend not to open their eyes to what's around them!

I LOVE Cumberland sausage, my Aunt and Uncle live in Cumbria and whenever they were visiting us in Norfolk they always brought Cumberland sausage with them!
