Ladies Night at Tiger Bills

What makes a pretty rubbish day at work so much better?  A lovely dinner out with friends of course!

Last Thursday I was invited to Tiger Bills in Consett to have a little try of their menu along with the lovely ladies from Sparkles, Suzanne from Daisy Green and Katie from Lady From a Tramp.

Tiger Bills has six restaurants across the UK including two in the North East.  It's not somewhere I'd been before or knew much about so I was eager to have a nose round and try out the food.  Tiger Bills offers a great combination of Western Grill and Thai Cuisine, which makes it a great venue for friends who can't agree on what type of food they want or families (burgers for the kids and curry for Mum and Dad).

The restaurant in Consett is large and has a lovely buzzing atmosphere.   It was pretty full when we arrived in the early evening which always makes for a pleasant dining experience.  I loved the décor with the orange lighting and quirky signs behind the bar (watch out for those falling coconuts!)

Every good dinner starts with some cocktail ordering which got even more exciting when we realised the drinks were served in real pineapples ...

and melons

The generous folks at Tiger Bills offered us a wonderful little sample of their starter courses (three massive platefuls to be precise) and we eagerly tucked in, enthusiastic to try a bit of everything.

I loved the prawn toast which I would have happily noshed on all night and the potato skins crammed with cheese and bacon and the nachos vanished off the plate almost immediately.

For our main meal we chose to sample food off the Thai side of the menu and had a nice selection of curries (which I'm afraid I can't comment on as I'm not a fan of spicy food but my fellow diners seemed impressed), rice, noodles and vegetables.

I had a plate of sweet and sour vegetables with rice and it was amazing, it was really sweet and I loved the chunks of pineapple.  I was also impressed by how hot and fresh the food was - just the way I like it.

We had a really wonderful evening chatting, laughing and putting the world to rights.   Nothing beats an evening out with great food and great company.

I will definitely be back, I need to try out the Western Grill and Desserts and I really want to introduce Simon to the wonderful world of Tiger Bills.

Our food and cocktails were provided free of charge for review purposes by Tiger Bills.   All opinions are my own.
